The Never-Ending HeatThe rain we had been promised never came. The forecast for this evening had been for thunderstorms: usually hailed as a negative occurrence, but tonight was seen as a relief. But there had been no storms. There had been no rain. We had not been graced with the presence of even a mere drop. About 5 O'clock today, smoky grey clouds gathered in the sky, blotting out the sun for a time and filling our minds with hope. They failed to deliver though, and we all exhaled the breaths we were holding for the rain. The weather seemed to taunt us further after that.
